Hello Questers!

The armor lies on the altar, surrounded by ancient gnomish warnings of tyrants and curses. The armor calls your name just as your friend steps between you and the altar, pleading you not to do it. What do you do?

Since our last newsletter back in the beginning of December, we’ve released a major new feature for Quest Portal Pro subscribers as well as upgrading our existing widgets to create a far more powerful Character Sheet and Note experience. Get ready, this one is POWERFUL.

The Quick Breakdown

  • Pro Feature - Generate Character
  • Tutorials - Checklist for GMs and Players
  • Widget Improvements - All of them. All the improvements.
  • Mobile App - Session tools added. Move Players between scenes.
  • Gift Card - Available as 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. Check it out here.

Try all these great new features in your Quest Portal app today! Read on to learn more…

Generate Characters

We have been perfecting this over the last two months since release - Generate Character for Pro subscribers creates a character sheet in moments. Take the hassle out of copying and pasting multiple NPCs for your campaign by uploading a pdf of their stat block. Bring your beloved character online, by snapping a picture of your pen and paper character sheet, complete with years of doodles, and having the Generate Character do the heavy lifting of generating a digitalized version.

Need an NPC character sheet because your players started a fight in an inn? You got it - in mere moments create that last second invention, ready to roll and rumble as if you had them prepared all along. Since we brought this feature online, over 6,000 characters have been generated - including one on a plane!

Psst, you can try this for free for 7 days with a free trial.

Onboarding Checklist

For new users, we have a rad new starter Checklist that acts as a tutorial to get you started making campaigns and creating characters. Let the Checklist guide you through making a campaign: from adding scenes and notes, to creating characters and inviting your friends.

The Checklist appears as a quest on the Homescreen, which takes you step by step - accompanied by a Quick Start Tutorial video - through the basics of our platform, which is tailored to your onboarding answer to GM, Player or both. It even gives you a handy QR code to tempt you into using the mobile app. When the Checklist is complete, it goes away: it’s job done of showing you the Quest Portal ropes.

Although this is available to New Users, if you want to try this and you're not a new user, send us an email: support@questportal.com

... become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

This section is best summed up as: SO MANY REFERENCES!

Points Widget - Can now go into negatives, can hide max value to turn into a counter and it can be referenced in Modifiers, Modifier Values and Roll Buttons.

Slots Widget - Can now be referenced in Modifiers, Modifier Values and Roll Buttons.

Modifier Widget - The Modifier Value, which was previously only a number, can now contain formulas and references.

Collections Widget - Can now contain Slots and Points. These can also be referenced in Modifiers, Modifier Values and Roll Buttons, including Roll Buttons inside of the Collections Widget.

Referencing for Slots and Points are game changing for creating Character Sheet Templates. For example, if you have a Slot in a Collections Widget that denotes an expertise, you can reference that Slot in the Roll Button to add it to the roll. With the right formulas, If you check it, it gets added, if it isn’t checked, it doesn’t.

Checkout the D&D 2014 character sheet template for an example of our referencing galore update.

Tokens now available on Mobile!

We move ever closer to being able to fully prepare as a GM on Mobile Devices. Not only has our Bug Week this month crushed many of the small annoyances with smoothness, moving tokens etc but it also added Session features.

Check out the mobile app, if you haven’t already, to see not only 1 new icon in session, but 2. Firstly Session Tools include Fog of War, Grid Settings, Drawing Tools and Measuring features. And secondly, (added just this week), is a Token’s drawer. Open a Campaign, open the Tokens drawer, and then tap to add to the canvas. Plus, the Token handling is much smoother on mobile as well.
